Dove presents a sweeping seven–decade narrative that begins with a childhood accident in the Louisiana bayous and culminates in a transformative global art project.

Nine–year–old Pero's killing of a small bird with his BB gun creates a trauma that follows him into adulthood, shaping his understanding of violence and redemption. The story takes a pivotal turn when Pero meets Emma, a visionary British sculptor, in 1970s Jamaica.
